Vitalik Buterin is taking some flack on Twitter after apparently attending a conference panel which legitimized Bitcoin SV. The Ethereum cofounder responded by clarifying that he really had no idea BSV would even be present.

In a world where scammers and marginal cryptocurrencies pounce on any remote association between industry leaders and their projects, one has to be careful not to give the wrong impression. Nowadays, we so often hear about how Person X is giving his support to Cryptocurrency Y just because that person was in the general vicinity of the latter’s panel. It’s absurd, but it’s something to watch out for — especially if you’re the founder of Ethereum.

Buterin took some heat recently for his attendance at the Deconomy Forum, which apparently gave some airtime to Bitcoin SV ‘shills.’ On a talk called “Bitcoin Scaling and Economics,” BSV believers were in full force. Buterin was there, which caused many people to shake their heads.

In response to claims that he should not have attended and lent the contentious altcoin legitimacy, Buterin himself responded. It seems that the Ethereum cofounder was not even aware that the panel would be stacked with BSV supporters and, if he had known, he would have caused a scene beforehand on Twitter.

Buterin has been a long-time critic of Bitcoin SV, and even called it a “dumpster fire.” Vitalik has also openly criticized Craig Wright, the founder of BSV, as being a fraud. He also claims that he is definitely not Satoshi Nakamoto, contrary to ‘Faketoshi’s’ claims.

Do you accept Buterin’s clarification? Has he been strong enough in showing his opposition towards Bitcoin SV? Let us know your thoughts below.
