For reference, Secret Network is a blockchain that enables smart contracts with built-in privacy features that hide certain data from public view. The project is positioned as a potential solution for creating decentralised applications and financial solutions that handle customers' personal information.

NFT token from Tarantino

The collection consists of seven unique tokens based on Tarantino’s 1994 film Pulp Fiction. The NFTs will be available for purchase on the OpenSea platform during an auction. Each token is backed by a scene from the film as well as bonus content – director’s notes, an original script and commentary that reveals more details about the film.

Directed by Quentin Tarantino

The bonus content itself will only be available to the eye of the NFT owner. This is one of the main features of the Secret Network – owners of NFT collections can decide for themselves whether to make their patrimony public, or hide it from others. This feature of unique tokens could make them even more expensive, as similar features are not available to Etherium-based collections.

Another surprise awaits us in 2021: a new installment of the famous movie franchise The Matrix will be released in cinemas at the end of December together with an NFT themed collection. This consists of 100,000 Matrix-themed avatars with common features like a red or blue pill.

The avatars can be purchased for a starting price of $50 on the Nifty trading platform. Best of all, if you choose the blue pill, the NFT will “belong to the Matrix” and if you choose the red pill “will become a resistance fighter”. Nifty CEO Jeff Marsilio shared his thoughts on the launch of the collection.

Here’s a rejoinder from the project spokesperson, in which he shares his take on what’s happening. The quote is quoted by Decrypt.

We do think that the theme of digital identity, choosing and possessing that identity resonates with the main motif of The Matrix franchise.

Accordingly, in this case, the theme of NFT tokens will help the project in two ways. Firstly, it’s about generating an additional source of revenue that will help the picture pay off even faster. Secondly, the owners of the unique digital avatars will probably post them on social media, which will obviously draw the attention of their friends to the film. So it’s essentially a way to make money as well as advertising. In turn, users will get a unique item that will stay with them forever in memory of the release of the new film – and that’s worth a lot to fans, too.

It's important to note that Tarantino isn't the only one experimenting with unique tokens inside the blockchain. Popular producer and rapper Timothy Zachary Mosley, also known as Timbaland, has also come up with a new concept for interacting with them. He has broken down the tunes from his new tracks into individual NFTs, so that users can mix them as they see fit. Read more about the innovative idea in a separate article.

As you can see, NFT could become very popular in Hollywood as another tool to monetise the popularity of films. Moreover, a similar format is already being tested for TV series. Unique tokens give companies a lot of room for experimentation, so this trend will be popular for quite a long time.

We believe that the success of NFT tokens is not a short-term phenomenon. This category of assets provides full ownership and in addition allows you to verify the uniqueness of the item, which is very relevant in today's times. Therefore, it is safe to assume that more and more companies will resort to interacting with blockchain. Well, in the future, every major film will not do without the release of such commemorative coins.
