As a reminder, Web3 is the upcoming third generation of the Internet, in which websites and applications can process information almost like humans. This is achieved through artificial intelligence, machine learning, decentralised registry technology and so on.

Most importantly, the platforms of this generation of the internet will be decentralised, meaning they will not be owned by any large companies. Accordingly, the role of giants like Google and Facebook will be overshadowed, and companies will no longer collect and trade information about their users.

Where to learn about cryptocurrencies and blockchain

In an interview with Decrypt, project creator Nick de Wild said that he spent years running startups for startups and online education projects, but eventually decided that Web3 offered an opportunity for a radical new paradigm of education. In the case of Invisible College is the use of NFT as a form of student loan. Students would need to purchase one of the NFTs created by the platform called Decentr-aliens to access the courses.

As a reminder, the use of unique NFT tokens is not limited solely to the presentation of the artwork assigned to it. As we learned in the summer of 2021, they can also act as a pass to watch a certain show, i.e. essentially replacing subscriptions to popular streaming platforms. At the time, it was about Stoner Cats, voiced, among others, by Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher and Vitalik Buterin. Read more about this unusual application of NFT in a separate article.

NFT Decentr-aliens

One of the advantages of this model is that students will be able to sell NFTs after they graduate, making paid tuition an investment that they can then, in theory, recoup. According to de Wilde, this is an attractive alternative to the current US education model, where graduates graduate with large student loan debt.

As for getting one of the unique tokens, DAO intends to produce thousands of NFTs early next year on the Solana blockchain and sell them at 1 SOL apiece, which is about $180 at the current exchange rate. DAO members will receive NFTs for their contribution to the development of the platform, with some of the tokens going to the main creators of the project as well.

Briefly about WEB3

This is interesting: An organisation of cryptocurrency fans has raised millions of dollars to buy the US Constitution. What came out of it?

It remains to be seen whether it will all work in practice. For example, it is unclear whether the DAO will be able to provide enough high-quality classes to ensure that NFTs will be in demand. DAOs themselves are still an experimental form of project management.

However, Invisible College has a significant difference – this decentralised organisation aims to create something that will prove useful to many people. The project also fits with the spirit of the cryptocommunity, which is often sceptical about the prospects of traditional higher education.

NFT Patchwork Kingdoms

NFT appear in another notable initiative – this time from UNICEF. In January, the UN division plans to launch a collection of unique Patchwork Kingdoms tokens created by artist and analyst Nadia Bremer. The collection commemorates UNICEF’s 75th anniversary and consists of 1,000 NFTs. The funds raised from her auction will go towards providing internet connectivity to many schools around the world.

We believe that this idea clearly demonstrates the limitless possibilities for developers in the field of decentralised assets. In fact, NFT can be used for many more purposes, and it will change the concept of providing various services and business relations at the same time. We want to believe that cryptocurrency industry representatives will be more and more active in finding new variants of development of already existing technologies.
