Note that many celebrities have already acknowledged their connection to cryptocurrencies. For example, rapper Snoop Dogg is particularly active among them, who not only likes unique NFT tokens, but even interacts with the concept of the meta universe.

Now he's bringing his California estate into virtual reality, and other inhabitants of the digital world aren't averse to becoming a star's neighbour. Some have even paid almost half a million dollars for the title. Read more about this story in a separate article.

Which stars have invested in cryptocurrencies

After the “gift” of cryptocurrencies, Reeves no longer touched his digital assets. Heath noted that the movie actor now belongs to the crypto investor camp. Here’s a line from the host, in which he voiced certain basics of the cryptocurrency world to the famous actor.

It’s called HODL when you just don’t move your cryptocurrencies.

Note that the word "HODL" is an interpretation of the word "hold" - that is, "hold/hold/keep" with a typo. The legendary term originated in December 2013, when an intoxicated cryptocurrency user shared his failures in the world of digital assets. In the end, it came down to an inability to buy and sell cryptocurrency on time - as well as a love for getting rid of the asset after its price collapsed. As such, the user decided to keep the bitcoins, that is, do nothing with them, no matter what the changes in the coin's exchange rate might be. Read more about the topic in a separate piece.

“Yes, indeed, I have some of that HODL,” summed up Reeves. According to Decrypt’s speculation, Keanu didn’t want to reveal exactly what kind of coins he owns.

The actor and fellow Matrix series filmmaker Carrie-Anne Moss were generally interviewed to promote The Resurrection, the latest in the Matrix series. As well as discussing the work, the duo also answered questions about cryptocurrencies, the meta universe, the Matrix video game and NFT tokens.

Recall that Warner Bros. Pictures, which is making the film, has already had time to get involved in the cryptosphere. Earlier in November, it launched a series of 100,000 NFT tokens to promote the franchise. In general, NFTs are a variety of Matrix-themed avatars and cost $50 per token. Each NFT offered holders the choice of a red or blue token, reflecting one of the most historic choices in the film.

However, during the interview, Reeves expressed scepticism about NFT. He said that “unique” digital objects are in fact quite easy to reproduce and the principle of “uniqueness” in virtual space itself is unlikely to have a chance of success.

So essentially Keanu is sticking to the theory that every NFT can be “stolen” by saving the corresponding image. We don’t agree with this assertion. While it is possible to upload an image, it is not possible to obtain the corresponding token attached to it – and that is the proof of ownership of a particular object. This means that in essence it is of no use. To understand this, however, it is necessary to understand blockchain and the nature of non-interchangeable tokens. Apparently, Reeves didn’t have time for that.

The Cryptopunks NFT series is one of the most popular collections of unique tokens

We think the idea of unique NFT tokens isn't as easy to understand as advanced cryptocurrency investors might think after all. And Keanu Reeves clearly proves it, because, in fact, saving NFT as a picture on your computer does not give anything to the author of this action. It's likely that the concept of non-exchangeable tokens could become even more popular - especially if newcomers realize its full potential.
