How to make money with NFT-tokens

At the moment, the minimum price of NFT tokens is 0.01 ETH, or about $26 at the current exchange rate of the cryptocurrency. This is almost ten times lower than the cost of issuing the tokens themselves, which was 0.1 ETH or $261. Rhodes had also previously promised to delete her Discord account to “distance herself” from the project, but her community is still active on that platform.

According to news outlet Decrypt, Rhodes initially promised its subscribers a "quick sale" of tokens upon release, meaning the opportunity to earn in a limited timeframe. However, things did not go as expected. In January, investors in the project were still "fed" expectations and promised that "the price of NFT would increase significantly in the coming months." Rhodes herself backed up this statement with the reassuring phrase that "this is just the beginning of the project".

Publicity for the NFT collection

When the NFT-collection didn’t really sell out quickly, the number of tokens in it was reduced to 6,969, and then reduced again – to 6,069 units. On 22 January Lana Rhodes tried to reassure her followers by publishing the following quote.

By tomorrow everything will be sold out and we will be working on the next phase of the project plan.

In other words, investors have trivialised their interest in this collection of unique non-interchangeable tokens. At the same time, the actress promised to remedy the situation, which in effect should have had a positive effect on the value of NFT. In the end, however, new buyers were never found in large numbers.

Rhodes’ deleted Twitter account

Rhodes eventually told her community that her project was a “profitable investment”, but later took back her words. Moreover, her social media activity on the project gradually declined, giving the impression that she had simply “bailed” on her investors. As a consequence, the value of the NFT has fallen even below its issue price, which means that the buyers of the collection have incurred only losses.

At the same time, the initial sums invested by the early investors went to the creator. Users were understandably outraged by what was happening.

After all of these events, a YouTube blogger known as Coffeezilla released a video in which he criticized the project and even called it a fraudulent scheme. However, the blogger has as many as 960,000 subscribers. Here is his video. We recommend you to watch it if you speak English by ear.

In response to the video, Rhodes posted a series of angry tweets, after which she soon deleted her account. Here’s one of her quotes.

No, honestly, I’m so sick of the whole thing. I worked hard on the project and just because it was a failure, it can now be considered a scam. I had no bad intentions, but now I have to deal with all the prejudice and criticism.

Rhodes’ deleted tweets

Looks like Rhodes is now unlikely to associate himself with the cryptocurrency industry in any other way. In response to another comment on her already deleted account, she stated that she “now wants nothing to do with the industry”. That said, one interesting detail remains: the porn star kept the funds from the NFT token issue, citing a need to settle accounts with the developers.

There is one lesson from this story: not every celebrity or brand is a guarantor of a cryptocurrency project's success. We previously had a chance to witness something similar with Ubisoft, when the popular game publisher's NFT completely failed to sell at the peak of the hype trend.

As a result, we recommend doing thorough research on the project before investing money in it. As you can understand from this situation, the connection of a star from any field with the NFT-collection does not mean that the latter will attract a huge number of investors and bring profit. So you have to be as careful as possible with your money here.
