As is traditional, let’s start with an explanation. The topic of digital versions of clothing and accessories has become a hot topic with the increasing popularity of so-called meta-universes. It refers to a virtual space where users can interact with each other using a PC or additional devices like virtual reality helmets.

Meanwhile, the meta-universes trend began to take shape in 2020 against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic. As people had limited opportunities to interact with each other in real life, they moved into virtual space.

And as more and more people find themselves in the digital world, popular companies have decided to keep up with the trend. The logic behind their presence is simple: people want a personalised character that looks like them in real life. Having NFT tokens with a matching piece of clothing helps with this. For example, if a participant of the virtual world has fashionable Nike trainers – why not to wear them in the Metaview?

As a result, the trend is gaining momentum. Now the fruit of Nike and RTFKT collaboration is the CryptoKicks project.

Which companies are working in the world of cryptocurrency

RTFKT x Nike Dunk Genesis CryptoKicks are digital wearables that are designed specifically for use in the meta universe. RTFKT first unveiled them in a teaser video on Twitter, showing how the look of the digital shoes can be altered using collectible ‘vials of skins’ that can be swapped out to create different styles.

The novelty looks like this.

The first ‘boxes’ of CryptoKicks from Nike can be ‘unlocked’ via RTFKT’s MNLTH NFT tokens, which were distributed for free in February 2022 to holders of valuable CloneX collections from the same RTFKT and other previous NFT series.

Note that trainers in the context of the blockchain world were mentioned the day before. We are talking about the Bitsneaks project, which is being developed by Bitrefill, a startup. In this case, it refers to a pair of shoes that displays the value of Bitcoin live. What's more, the trainer pack even allows you to mine BTC - although it's not particularly efficient.

The project is above all remembered for its price, which is 1 BTC - after all, trainers for tens of thousands of dollars are a rarity. Take a look at the creation of the creative creators in this article.

The recent announcement of the results of the Nike and RTFKT partnership came after a series of quests and puzzles that collectors had to solve before RTFKT launched the site, allowing owners to open a vault with NFT. As reported by some owners on social media, MNLTH vaults include a pair of CryptoKicks, one vial of skins and a second MNLTH vault.

According to the official selection of answers to popular questions on Discord’s RTFKT server, the company will launch a series of quests to unlock the second MNLTH 2 vault later this year. Each pair of CryptoKicks will also have an ‘evolutionary path’ that will allow them to evolve and cross-pollinate in certain ways, which will only add value to NFT.

We believe that the involvement of giants like Nike in the Metavsec industry proves the relevance of the field. Obviously, more and more people will spend time in the virtual space in the future, and each of them will want to stand out. Consequently, it is likely that in a few years or months, every pair of fashionable clothes or shoes from a world-famous brand will be accompanied by an NFT copy for the digital world. Well, if payment for them will be made via the user's cryptocurrency wallet directly - as is the case, for example, with the Solana Pay service - then sending NFTs will be as simple as possible. So now we have to wait for other legendary brands to enter the niche as well.
