Mining ETH and ETC on ASIC

Antminer E9

In July, Bitmain released the Antminer E9, a new ASIC miner for mining Etherium and Ethereum Classic. According to the company, the performance of the new miner is equivalent to 25 top-of-the-line Nvidia RTX 3080 graphics cards.

Antminer E9 cost and delivery times

The payback period of the device at the moment is about one year, taking into account the cost of electricity. Many miners have not understood the need for the Bitmain model release, because the transition of Etherium to Proof-of-Stake is planned for the fall of 2022. Apparently, the manufacturer is banking on the profitability of Ethereum Classic mining going forward.

iPollo V1 Mini Classic Plus

iPollo has released a new ASIC miner for Ethereum Classic mining called iPollo V1 Mini Classic Plus. The device has 3.6GB of memory, and it exclusively supports the Etchash algorithm. This means that, depending on the ASIC firmware, it can only be used for a year to a year and a half.

Innosilicon firmware for ETC mining on A10

Last week, Innosilicon officially released new firmware that enables ETC mining on the Innosilicon A10 and A10 Pro.

The new firmware is on the Innosilicon website

The firmware is currently designed to work with the A10 Pro, but it should work for the regular A10 as well. That said, the version for the Innosilicon A11 is still under development with no indication of a tentative release date. You can download the new firmware by following this link.

Estimated date of Etherium merger

Etherium developers plan to migrate the network from PoW to PoS algorithm in September, and that will be the end of ETH mining with video cards. The tentative date was announced on July 14 during the Consensus Layer Call #91. If the merger on the Goerli test network is successful, the procedure on the main network will happen the week of September 19, 2022.

The date of the Etherium network merger

Here is the recording of the call in the original. You can also read the main points of the call in English at the link if you wish.

The approach of the Etherium merger has had a good effect on the price of Ethereum Classic, which was even more profitable than ETH the day before. At the moment, the figures are almost the same: you can check this at any time with 2CryptoCalc’s mining yield calculator.

It is important to note that the 2Miners pool supports quite a few cryptocurrencies for mining on video cards. Accordingly, after moving ETH to PoS, you will be able to mine the aforementioned Ethereum Classic, Ravencoin, ERGO and other coins.

Node update

The 2Miners team updated quite a few cryptocurrency nodes in July. Here they are:

  • Zcash 5.0.2
  • Firo v0.14.11.1
  • Ergo Protocol Reference Client 4.0.35
  • Monero Fluorine Fermi v0.18.0.0

Mining software archive updated

Also archive for quick start of mining has been updated. Now it has:

  • gminer 3.05
  • t-rex 0.26.4
  • lolminer 1.53
  • teamredminer 0.10.2

Big reward for the ETH blocks.

The second month of summer will also be remembered by profitable Etherium blocks for the 2Miners pool. The largest of these was block number 15,129,296, which yielded pool miners 30.73 ETH, including 10 ETH of the so-called MEV reward.
