January for 2Miners: changes in Bitcoin payouts for Bitcoin Gold miners and important updates
The beginning of the year was traditionally busy for the 2Miners mining pool team. The month was remembered for critical updates of nodes, reduction of block rewards and changes in the payment system for Bitcoin Gold (BTG) pool members. Let’s summarise the results of January, remembering the main updates.
Contents
- 1 Disabling BTC payouts for Bitcoin Gold miners

- 2.1 Zcash (ZEC) v6.1.0
- 2. 2 Zephyr Protocol v2.0.2 – ZSD Yield (Hotfix)

Disabling BTC payouts for Bitcoin Gold miners
Bitcoin Gold miners used to be able to be automatically rewarded in bitcoins thanks to exchanges on the Gate.io exchange. However, due to the platform closing deposits to BTG in the coming days, the 2Miners mining pool will no longer support this feature.
Therefore, from now on, Bitcoin Gold mining rewards will be paid exclusively in this cryptocurrency. What this means for miners:
- New BTG mining payouts will only be paid out in BTG;
- BTC payouts pending will still be processed – however, provided the exchange accepts the appropriate transactions for deposits.
The 2Miners team realises that such changes can create difficulties. Alas, this is where we have to adapt to what is happening with exchanges.
Node updates
Zcash (ZEC) v6.1.0.
The latest Zcash update, version 6.1.0, is a technical release necessary to ensure stable network operation. This update installs a new final service limit height, ensuring that the network runs without any issues. We recommend all Zcash miners to upgrade to this version to avoid malfunctions.
Zephyr Protocol v2.0.2 – ZSD Yield (Hotfix)
Zephyr Protocol representatives have launched version 2.0.2 as an urgent hotfix directly for mining pools. This is a mandatory update, and all pools should immediately upgrade to it.
Exchanges have also been advised to temporarily suspend deposits and withdrawals. Regular desktop users don’t need to update, as a larger update with a network audit is waiting for us.
The activation of the v7:
- took place on block number 433000;
- includes an important security update to fix an issue discovered before the full audit;
- details of the hotfix will be revealed once the transition to v7 is complete.
We strongly recommend that all Zephyr mining pools update immediately to ensure network stability.
Block reward reductions
Block reward reductions have been scheduled for January 2025 across various cryptocurrency networks as scheduled.
The updated reward levels are as follows:
Kaspa (KAS)
- Previous reward per block: 73.41 KAS
- Current block reward: 69.29 KAS
Ergo (ERG)
- Previous block award: 21 ERG
- Actual block award: 18 ERG
Karlsen (KLS)
- Previous block award: 35.15 KLS
- Actual block award: 34.19 KLS
The reductions listed are in line with the pre-planned schedule. To calculate the actual coin mining yield, use the 2CryptoCalc calculator.
